Sixth Grade Math-- After turning in their shopping project on Monday, students will continue with Chapter 3 in their math text books. This unit focuses on decimal computation. Students will be practicing adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing decimals. Computational fluency requires practice. Please encourage your student to go on www.commoncoresheets.com or Khan Academy to find extra practice materials. They will then apply those skills to solving equations. Students will end their unit with an assessment on Tuesday, November 20th. The assessment will be on the skills taught in the chapter. Look for a study guide to go home on Thursday, November 15th.
Seventh Grade Math— Students will continue their unit on rational numbers. They will be working with adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing positive and negative decimal numbers. Computational fluency requires practice. Please encourage your student to go on www.commoncoresheets.com or Khan Academy to find extra practice materials. Students will then use the computation skills to solve equations containing rational numbers. There was a quiz scheduled that was moved to Wednesday of next week. I moved the quiz because I felt the students needed more time to practice before assessing them on the skills. The decimal test that will include word problems, equations and computation will be on Tuesday, November 20th.
Eighth Grade Math-- Students have been working on operations with scientific notation. On Wednesday, November 14th the students will have a quiz on scientific notation operations. Students will then begin their next unit on Ratios, Proportions, and similar figures. Students will also participate in Math Buddies on Tuesday, November 13th with Mrs. Borchardt’s first grade.
Algebra-- Students will work through the last two sections of chapter 4. They will identify domain and range, they will continue graphing and work with arithmetic sequences. Once the last two sections are complete the students will review. The Chapter 4 test will be on Monday, November 19th. Students will also participate in Math Buddies on Tuesday, November 13th with Mrs. Borchardt’s first grade.
