Math News:
Sixth Grade Math--Students worked on equivalent ratios, unit rates and better buys this week. They used their computation and comparing skills. We will continue in Chapter 6 using proportions to calculate percent of number and convert fractions to decimals to percent.
7B Math--Students were introduced to commission, salary, cost, sales and tax problems. These are new concepts for most of the students. These next few sections are going to require a little extra study time and practice. Students should be reviewing their math notes and homework every night. The expectation is to apply mathematical skills to real world problems. Practice will help students meet this expectation.
7A Math-- Students started the new week with chapter 11. The focus of chapter 11 is Equations. This chapter involves many multi-step processes and requires attention to detail. Students should be able to maintain focus and recall processes. Practice is the only way to improve this skill. Students will need to be efficient and accurate to be successful on the assessment.
Eighth Grade Math--Students began the Geometry unit with detailed notes containing definitions, pictures and terms. We will be naming and classifying geometric figures. Students can create flashcards or a quiz on Quizlet to help them study.
Algebra--We will continue working through some chapter 7 problems and the move on to Chapter 8. This is the point in the course where things may get challenging. Please encourage your student to develop good study habits.
