7A Math—Students finished chapter 3 with their assessment. They then took a pre-test for chapter 4. Based on the pre-test students participated in stations that allowed them to review skills they understood, but needed to practice a little bit. Then the class began learning about congruency, solving figures using proportions, and applying those skills to life situations. We will continue through chapter 4 next week.
7B Math---Students finished chapter 2 with their assessment and began chapter 3. The journey through chapter 3 begins with decimal computation. Students have already practiced addition, subtraction and multiplication. We will tackle division and decimal equations next week. Students can expect 2 quizzes next week. One on the benchmark fraction-decimal-percent conversions and one on the decimal section of chapter 3.
8th Grade Math—Students presented lessons to each other on the Pythagorean Theorem. It was nice to see students using communication skills, learning independently, and being responsible for their learning. Students practiced their perfect squares, perfect cubes, square roots and cube roots in a special version of Tic-Tac-Toe. Students will finish chapter 3 next week and take the final assessment of the quarter.
Algebra—The class finished working through Chapter 4. The students worked on graphing functions, using function tables, extending patterns and writing expressions. Students will review the concepts of the chapter next week and take their end of the chapter assessment on Wednesday.
