Here is the latest newsletter! Sixth Grade Math- Next week students will begin chapter 6. This chapter’s focus is data. Students will be finding mean, median, mode and range. Recognizing outliers and understanding what data represents will also be skills that are developed in this unit. Students will need their calculators and graph paper for this unit.
7A Math--Beginning next week, students will start the Algebra 1 program to give them an idea of what it would look like in 8th grade. As the work becomes challenging and the pace quickens, students will need to think about if they are ready to take on Algebra as an eighth grade student. We will begin working in chapter 1.
7B Math--Next week students will begin chapter 7. This chapter’s focus is data. Students will be finding mean, median, mode and range. They will also learn how to make box-and-whisker plots and determine if data is biased. Students will need their calculators and graph paper for this unit.
Algebra-- The next topic that will be covered is trigonometric ratios. Students will learn about sine, cosine, and tangent functions. They will then use these ratios to solve right triangle. These are new topics and will require practice. The chapter 10 test will be the week of April 23.
Eighth Grade Math- Chapter 4 is the next unit of study. Students will begin the unit on ratios, proportions, and similarity. Students will use ratios and proportions to solve problems. They will use logic and reason to find solutions using unit rates. Students will need to be neat and accurate in this unit.
