Announcements—I will be out of the building on Tuesday for professional development and supervising the Academic Bowl on Friday morning. Please be aware that there will be substitutes in my classes on those days. You can reach me by email if there are any questions or concerns.
Sixth Grade Math- The sixth graders will finish their unit on percent this week. They will be finding percent of a number and solving percent problems. We will review the concepts in the chapter at the end of the week. Be watching for a study guide skills checklist for the test. The students have been taught many ways to solve problems and several procedures. They should be practicing them for their test early next week.
7A Math— This students will be working through chapter 10. The focus will be probability. Students will need to use skills from other chapters along with reasoning to solve probability problems.
7B Math— This week students begin work with equation. They will work from simple one step equations to multi-step equations. It will be important for students to have calculators they are comfortable with and that during class they are taking detailed, neat, organized notes.
Algebra-- Students will continue their work with quadratics in chapter 9. Students will be solving quadratics using graphing, factoring and the quadratic equation this week. Students will need to review their notes and study daily to keep up with the new material.
Eighth Grade Math- The students will be focused on forms of equations, writing equations, graphing equations and rearranging equations into the proper forms for another week. Students will be making connections between each of these things. Students will need to spend extra time on these concepts. Once students see the connection between concepts, the material will be easy to master. We are spending another week on the material because it is challenging.
