7A Math--Ratios and proportions will be the focus of the next unit. In this unit students will go beyond procedure and process to understanding. Students will work with application problems and develop many strategies to solve problems involving ratios and proportions. Thinking outside of the box and stepping out of their comfort zone will be vital to success in this unit.
7B Math-- Attending to precision and reasoning will be important as we finish the unit on fractions. Students will be practicing all computations involving multiplication and division of fractions and mixed numbers. The material being presented will need to be practiced. There will be a fraction assessment before Thanksgiving Break.
Algebra-- We will work through the rest of chapter 4, an introduction to functions and graphing next week. This will allow the students to be on pace to cover the required material for their mid-term exam. The mid-term exam will come up quickly with the holiday season upon us. As of Thanksgiving break student will have more than half of the material on the exam. I encourage students to start preparing.
Eighth Grade Math-- Students will finish the unit on exponents and roots. There will be an end of the unit assessment before Thanksgiving break. Students have already had quizzes on some of the material. They should use these to help prepare for the end of the unit exam. Students can also use their interactive notebooks and notes from class.
