The regional Math24 Meet will take place on Friday for the 6th and 7th grade teams at Washington. Students participating should be practicing this week. Good Luck Bulldogs!
Sixth Grade Math--Students continued working through chapter 7 on percent. They worked in stations on various activities and practiced skills independently. They will learn the last lesson of the chapter on Monday and spend the rest of the week reviewing for the end of the chapter assessment. The assessment will take place on Friday. The assessment will be on all the sections of the chapter. If your student needs help studying or practicing for the test, remember the school offers media night on Monday and Wednesday where students can work with each other and teachers to prepare after school from 3:34-5:00. Students just need to bring a note if they wish to stay.
7B Math--Students finished Chapter 6 on percent. They will begin Chapter 8 on Geometry next. The students will study basic figures, how to name and label them, describe angles relationships and explore coordinate geometry. This chapter has many terms. It will be important for students to practice the vocabulary presented in the notes daily.
7A Math-- Students have completed all the lessons in chapter 11 on inequalities over the last week. They will be practicing skills and reviewing for their chapter assessment in the upcoming week. The Chapter 11 Assessment will be on Thursday on all the sections of the chapter. It will be important to have the process of finding a solution to a mutli-step problem down. Once the process is down, students will become more efficient at finding the solutions which is necessary to finish the assessment in the allotted time. Please be sure your student is preparing for the assessment over the next week.
Eighth Grade Math--We are almost done with chapter 5. Students have classified polygons, learned theorems, found missing values and learned the correct symbols and names for geometric figures. We ended the chapter with transformations and coordinate geometry. Students should be reviewing notes and studying vocabulary daily. There are several terms in this unit and students need to be able to identify, explain, and give examples of the terms in an essay question for the assessment. The chapter assessment will be on Thursday.
Algebra--We are working in Chapter 8-Factoring. The skills in the chapter are essential to success later in the Algebra program. We will spend the entire month on chapter 8, sharpening skills and mastering the material. Students should review work daily, as it becomes more difficult. If there are any questions on math placement for high school, please do not hesitate to call or email me. The class did an excellent job as helpers during the Math24 Meet on Friday and had fun making Valentine Algebra hearts this past week.
