Math 24 tournament practice has begun. We had preliminary rounds in each of the math classes. The top students from each grade are now practicing during Bulldog Time. Of those students practicing, three students will complete in the tournament in February.
I will be out of the building Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. I will be attending a technology conference. Please email if you need to get in touch with me.
Sixth Grade Math-We have begun chapter 4 of our text book. This unit is heavy in computation. Students should be practicing basic math facts. Our current focus is on factors, multiples, and equivalent expressions.
7A Math-- In chapter 7, data is our focus. Students reviewed mean, median, mode and range. They also learned how to create box and whisker plots and determine if information is biased. Students will be assessed on Thursday on this chapter.
7B Math--We have concluded our unit on decimals and fractions. Students will be assessed on those skills on Monday. Students should use their online resources and study guide to help them prepare for the test. We will then move on to chapter 4. We will begin with unit rates and best buys.
Algebra--Algebra will finish with Chapter 5 on forms of equations and graphing equations. Students will have their assessment and begin preparing for their semester exam. The exam is cumulative covering chapters 1-6. They have already learned 5 of the 6 chapters, so they should start preparing.
Eighth Grade Math-- We are finishing up our equation unit. Students will be assessed on solving equations and systems of equations next week. Students have had math stations, cooperative group work and several assignments to practice the skills needed to be successful on the assessment. Students should be able to solve multi-step equations as well as systems of equations using substitution.
