7A Math-- Students will finish chapter 1 in the Algebra book. We will spend Monday and Tuesday reviewing chapter 1 and take a chapter 1 test on Wednesday. We will then move on to an introduction to chapter 2. Students have adapted to the pace and work required in the Algebra program. They need to keep going strong until the end of the year.
7B Math— Students will begin their work with graphs in chapter 5. We will review the coordinate plane, interpret graphs, and use graphs to represent information. Students will need their rulers, graph paper or be able to use their iPad to graph. Students should also have colored pencils.
Algebra-- Students will be working through the beginning of chapter 11. The beginning of chapter 11 has students simplifying rational expression with polynomials as terms within the expression. This chapter will rely on students having a solid understanding of previous chapters. If students start to struggles they should arrange a time to get extra help. I would be happy to help. The student’s will take their final exam on Wednesday, May 30th. Students need to pass this exam and have B- average to move on to geometry. If these benchmarks are not met, students may need to retake Algebra 1 as a freshman. It is important to prepare if students want to move on to Geometry next year.
Eighth Grade Math--Students will finish chapter 4. They will have a test on Tuesday and complete tasks demonstrating the skills they learned on Wednesday and Friday. They will complete the tasks in small groups. Collaboration has been shown to help students develop communication skills and allows students to learn from each other.
