Sixth Grade Math- Students will continue to work through chapter 4. We have begun the unit with factors and prime numbers. We will continue with GCF and the distributive property. Students who have trouble with recalling math facts might want to spend 15-20 minutes a night on digit whiz or another website practicing. This will help them with homework in this unit.
7A Math— The group is working on real world math. They are learning about salary, commission, loans, tax and tip. Students will gain an understanding of some of the workings of finance. Students will be using calculators in this part of the unit. These topics are more about understanding and process not manual calculations.
7B Math-- Students will extend their knowledge of proportions to Geometry. Students will set up proportions to find missing side lengths and determine if triangles are similar. Students need a ruler or need to be able to use the tools on their iPad to construct these shapes. Please be sure your student has fully stocked math supplies for the week.
Algebra--We will finish chapter 5 next week with parallel and perpendicular lines. Students will understand how parallel and perpendicular lines are related to one another, identify their equations and graph their equations. Students will need to problem solve and work through a process to be successful with this part of the unit.
Eighth Grade Math- Students will continue working on geometric concepts. Students will be applying the volume and surface area formulas to situations. Students will need to understand how each formula works and how it is related to figures. Calculators are allowed in this unit. Students without calculators may struggle with the manual calculations. Please make sure your student is prepared for class.
