Math News:
The MathCON competition took place on February 22, 2017. The students in fifth through eighth grade did an excellent job. Congratulations to the three top scoring students from each grade. In fifth grade the top scoring students were Taylor, Brady, and Hailey, the sixth grade the top scoring students were Isabel, Ashton and Nathan, in seventh grade the top scoring students were Gus, Jonathan and Jacob, and in eighth grade the top scoring students were Bo, Angela and Gage. These students will find out if they qualified for the national competition in Chicago in March. Good luck!
Sixth Grade Math--Students are working on measurement systems. It is important that students learn their conversions. We have started with the US Customary system and will move to the Metric System. This set of skills can be mastered with practice. Please encourage your student to review their notes daily so the material does not become overwhelming.
7B Math--Angles and their relationships will be the focus in the upcoming week. We will learn theorems, apply them to problems, and justify answers using the appropriate vocabulary. Notes with diagrams and vocabulary should be review daily. The amount of material in this unit may become overwhelming if left to be learned the last minute.

Eighth Grade Math--In class this week we reviewed area and circumference of circles. We also took doodle notes to help prepare for the upcoming sections. Students will be classifying shapes and using that information to find surface area and volume.
Algebra--Students have finished chapter 8. Students are practicing the skills needed to be successful on the assessment. We will review and practice throughout the week and have our assessment on Friday.
