Sixth Grade Math-- Students will begin their unit on decimals. Students will begin their unit project next week. Students will use grocery store flyers to find the cost of groceries. They will plan a Thanksgiving meal on a budget. Students will need to demonstrate the ability to follow directions and accurately calculate decimal computation. Students should bring their own grocery flyer to school on Monday. Instructions for the project, details on requirements and due dates will be given to students on Monday when students begin working on the project in class.
Seventh Grade Math— Students will begin chapter three next week. The focus of chapter three is rational numbers. This unit is a longer unit with several skills. Students will be learning about decimal and fraction computation. Then, they will demonstrate the computation skills while solving equations. Rational number computation requires practice. Students need to practice in order to become proficient and efficient at the skills.
Eighth Grade Math-- Students will focus on scientific notation next week. Students will learn procedures for computation involving scientific notation, participate in practice through centers, work in pairs to share understanding and develop communication skills. Students will need their calculators and colored pencils for class every day.
Algebra-- Students will continue chapter four next week. Chapter 4 focuses on functions, equations, tables and graphs. Students will learn how to use the website Desmos, explore graphing and functions, and make connections between information given and the representations they create. Students should prepare for a mid-chapter quiz. The quiz is scheduled for next Friday.
